We would like to answer as many questions as possible for you.

**When booking your two bedroom units there is often confusion - please ensure that you are using the correct number of points for the two bedroom unit you want.

What is the weather like?

  • Summer is mid June to End of August. The average temperature is 20 – 30 Celsius.
  • Fall is usually windy and is from September to November. The average temperature is 0 – 15 Celsius and usually every night it freezes.
  • Winter is December – March. The average temperature is - 5 to - 30 Celsius at night often as low as -35. Usually cold winds. There is often warm spells that it will get up to 0 for a few days.

  • Spring is April – end of May and is usually rainy. The temperature varies from 0 – 15 Celsius with the odd day at 20.

Road Conditions - We may have closed roads or very icy roads through out the winter.

Car Rental - Brandon Manitoba or Winnipeg Manitoba

Our Location - One hour north of Brandon, Manitoba or 3 hours north west of Winnipeg, Manitoba.. For written instructions refer to maps on home page.

National Park Passes - If you are just staying with us at the Elkhorn Resort  you are not required to purchase a Riding Mountain National Park Pass. If you do want to walk, bike or drive to the national park you are required to purchases a park pass. Which can be done at our front desk.

Golfing in area - We have a 9 hole par Three on site and the 18 hole World Class Clear Lake Golf Course is only 5 kms away.. Tee times are required. 204-848-GOLF

Groceries - We have a small local grocery store in Onanole. Open May – November. Other than that the closest grocery store is Erickson year round.

Amenities on Property - Indoor Pool, Indoor and Outdoor Hot Tub, Sauna, Mineral Pool and Spa, Exercise Room, Play area in and out, 9 hole Golf Course, Riding Stables on site, Winter – Snowmobile, Cross Country Ski or Snowshoe rentals.

The following are a few MUST see’s in the area for family:

  • Summer - Ice Cream on the Beach, Gorge Hike (Hike), Grey Owl Bike Trail, Mini Golf (2), Paddleboat rentals, Flee Market (Sundays), Kids Playground, Lawn bowling.
  • Fall/Spring - Lunch at one of the two local tea houses, Elk Bugling with a Park Interpreter, Trail ride, Geo Caching Quest with Friends of Riding Mountain, Bowling at Sportys, Mineral Pool soak, A days adventure to Dauphin with local Guide Celese Davar of Earth Rhythms.
  • Winter - Bobsled ride for the family, family hockey game, snowmobile rentals, Geo caching Quest with Friends of Riding Mountain, Down Hill skiing at Minnedosa.

The following are a few MUST see’s in the area for couples:

  • Summer - Hike Brule, Kinosao, Picnic Lunch at Vermillion River, Tennis,
    Boat Cruise, Couples treatment in the Spa, Golf Clear Lake and Lunch
    Spring/Fall – Lunch at one of two local Tea houses, Elk bugling with a Park Interpreter, Trail ride, an adventure with Celese Davar of Earth RhythmsOutdoor adventures.
  • Winter - Cutteride for two, Champagne in room, Snow shoe adventure, Couple Spa treatment, Downhill Skiing in Assessipi.
